Zebra Packaging Advances Sustainability Efforts with Verified Product Carbon Footprint Data

June 17, 2026

Toronto, ON – Driven by an increase in partner and supplier requests for environmental data and transparency, Zebra Packaging, in partnership with Carbonzero, has completed a comprehensive Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) project on select finished paperboard materials. This initiative marks a significant milestone in Zebra’s sustainability efforts, allowing for the provision of third-party verified product carbon footprint data to Zebra Packaging customers.

Audit-Ready Approach

Conducted in alignment with the internationally recognized PAS 2050 framework, the project examined the cradle-to-gate life cycle carbon footprint of a series of Zebra Packaging finished products. The methodology accounted for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across key operational stages:

·    Raw material sourcing and extraction

·    Manufacturing processes and facility energy consumption

·    Product transportation and offcut waste treatment

To ensure further accuracy, the project results received independent, third-party limited assurance. The verification exercise further ensures that the project results are defensible and transparent for client reporting needs.

Key Learnings and Customer Value

Embarking on this project was a great learning experience for the Zebra team. Navigating the mechanics of the PAS 2050 framework provided invaluable insights into supply chain dynamics, highlighting exactly how material selection and manufacturing efficiencies influence overall environmental impact.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work our team put into this project, which served as a fantastic learning experience regarding our product life cycles," said David Klass, Chief Operations Officer at Zebra Packaging. "It successfully positions us to answer the growing number of environmental RFIs we receive with defensible data, and we feel ready to take what we’ve learned from this project to help our partners meet their Scope 3 reporting requirements”

The project significantly empowers Zebra’s partners and customer network to improve their own sustainability reporting efforts, closing a gap in customer supply chain emissions reporting. Now fully equipped to deliver verified PCF data on select materials, Zebra Packaging has the demonstrated ability to satisfy their customers’ upstream Scope 3 emissions reporting and compliance requirements.

The sustainability landscape is evolving rapidly. With this verified data in hand, Zebra Packaging is structured, informed, and ready to help our partners meet their sustainability goals with confidence.
