ON/QC - Food Waste Valorization Project

The avoidance of methane production from anaerobic degradation reduces a significant amount of emissions from being released into the atmosphere where greenhouse gases contribute to the negative effects of climate change.

The Food Waste Valorization Project is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party verified under ISO-14064-2 by Grant Thornton LLP. The project, undertaken by Canada’s leading processor of canned and frozen vegetables, avoids landfill methane emissions from six Ontario and Quebec based processing plants by valorizing organic waste residues into nutritional products for animals. The avoidance of methane production from anaerobic degradation reduces a significant amount of emissions from being released into the atmosphere where greenhouse gases contribute to the negative effects of climate change.

The company operates seven plants in Canada, including three in Ontario’s famed Horseshoe Valley and four in the fertile St. Lawrence River Valley in Quebec. Their expertise, along with that of its highest caliber agricultural partners in the most fertile croplands in North America, guarantee products of superior quality that meet the very highest of customer standards. The company’s products are marketed under the private-brand labels of major North American food distributors and supermarket chains.
