Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Pointe-de-l'Île School Board Energy Efficiency Project is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party verified under ISO-14064-2 by Carbon Quantum Inc. This project has implemented energy efficiency measures and fuel switching at all 63 of the Commission Scolaire de la Pointe-de-l’Île (CSPI) buildings, with the main objective to minimize the GHG emissions associated with energy use in all CSPI buildings.

The project falls under the category of ‘‘energy efficiency’’ and is characterized as a grouped project with various project activities implemented at different locations, including:

• Replacement of fuel oil-fired boilers with natural gas
• Installation of more energy efficient heating systems
• Improvement of the insulation performance of the buildings
• Improvement of the HVAC systems and geothermal heating and conditioning.

The CSPI covers the region of the east point of the island of Montreal and manages 63 buildings, with schools in Anjou, Montréal-Nord, Pointe-aux-Trembles, Rivièredes-Prairies and Saint-Léonard. All carbon offset transaction proceeds resulting from the project will be reinvested by the school board into additional greenhouse emission reduction projects and climate change related education and programs.

Project Type

Verified Emissions Reductions are achieved from each project through verification and validation that is specific to each project that mitigates climate change.

Carbonzero utilizes offset standards that are subject to the Voluntary Carbon Market. Click here for a list of the standards and their definitions.

This is the year in which the emissions reductions took place for a specific project. The quantity of carbon that has been offset are validated and verified by accredited GHG auditors.
