Carbonzero is pleased to provide our clients with carbon offset projects of different standards and varieties to assist in meeting with their carbon reduction goals.
We support Canadian based projects that create jobs, and support the local communities in which they are originated. Offsets are created when projects are undertaken to permanently reduce GHG emissions such as building retrofits, reduced consumption of fossil fuels, or the displacement of non-renewables into energy sources such as wind and solar. NL Climate & Ecosystems Conservancy Project

The Newfoundland Climate and Ecosystems Conservancy Project (NCECP) is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party verified under ISO-14064-2 by Fournier Toupin CPA Inc. The project is a greenhouse gas mitigation initiative through engineered wetland systems for wastewater treatment and are the first carbon offsets ever to be generated in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. more

First Nations Forest Carbon Project on Nionwentsio Land

The First Nations Forest Carbon Project on Nionwentsio Historical Land is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party validated under ISO-14064-2 by Fournier Toupin CPA Inc. The project rehabilitates degraded lands, maintains forestry potential of the region, protects biodiversity and the reconstructing of wildlife habitat. This results in protecting the integrity of the forest, preserving the aboriginal values of the community and inhering carbon sequestration opportunities by way of improved forest management and afforestation as well as reforestation activities. more

Ontario Biodiversity Afforestation Project (OBAP)

Established in 2014 and implemented over 2 years, the Ontario Biodiversity Afforestation Project (OBAP) is the largest afforestation project of its kind in Ontario developed for the sole purpose of sequestering greenhouse gas emissions and the creation of Carbon Offsets. The project takes place along the highway 11 corridor beginning near Powassan, extending north towards Kapuskasing, Ontario. Through the project, a minimum of 150 hectares of this land have been returned to its historical Boreal or Great Lakes St Lawrence forest conditions. more

Canada - Solar Heated Swimming Pools Aggregation Project

The Solar Heated Swimming Pools Aggregation Project is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party validated under ISO-14064-2 by Kuzuka Ltd. Validation was performed by Conestoga-Rovers & Associates. This project replaces conventional residential fossil fuel combustion heating with solar heating systems located at private residences and commercial swimming pool locations across Canada. more

Southern Quebec Afforestation Project (SQAP)

The Southern Quebec Afforestation Project is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party verified under ISO-14064-2 by Fournier Toupin CPA Inc. The project was created in 2014 to plant on 15 abandoned lands (or not properly regenerated) in the historical and pastoral landscape of South-Eastern Quebec, and will sequester a portion of Southern Quebec’s atmospheric carbon for at least 50 years.more

Niagara Escarpment Forest Carbon Project (NEFCP)

The Niagara Escarpment Forest Carbon Project (NEFCP) s publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party verified under ISO-14064-2 by Carbon Consult Group. This project promotes and maintains the function and diversity of ecosystems along Ontario’s Niagara escarpment. The Niagara escarpment stretches from Niagara Falls towards Tobermory, and extends along Manitoulin Island. more

Pointe-de-l'Île School Board Energy Efficiency Project (CSPI)

Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Pointe-de-l'Île School Board Energy Efficiency Project is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party verified under ISO-14064-2 by Carbon Quantum Inc. This project has implemented energy efficiency measures and fuel switching at all 63 of the Commission Scolaire de la Pointe-de-l’Île (CSPI) buildings, with the main objective to minimize the GHG emissions associated with energy use in all CSPI buildings. more

Fredericton, NB - Landfill Gas Capture Project

The Landfill Gas Capture Project is publicly listed on Blue Registry and has been 3rd party verified under VER+ by Det Norske Veritas AS (DNV). The project, undertaken by the Fredericton Region Solid Waste Commission (FRSWC), captures and flares landfill gas containing methane, thus significantly reducing the global warming potential of the greenhouse gases released to the atmosphere. FRSWC represents the first project in Canada to be validated and verified under the VER+ standard. more

ON/QC - Food Waste Valorization Project

The Food Waste Valorization Project is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party verified under ISO-14064-2 by Grant Thornton LLP. The project, undertaken by Canada's leading processor of canned and frozen vegetables, avoids methane emissions in six Ontario and Quebec based processing plants by valorizing organic waste residues into nutritional products for animals. The avoidance of methane production from anaerobic degradation reduces a significant amount of emissions from being released into the atmosphere where greenhouse gases contribute to the negative effects of climate change. more

ON/QC - Food Processing Energy Efficiency Project

The Food Processing Energy Efficiency Project is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party verified under ISO-14064-2 by Grant Thornton LLP. The project, undertaken by Canada's leading processor of canned and frozen vegetables, eliminates greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel consumption and electricity production from six Ontario and Quebec based food processing plants by the implementation of energy efficient technologies at each facility. The project activity made it possible to consume less energy, therefore reducing a significant amount of emissions from being released into the atmosphere where greenhouse gases contribute to the negative effects of climate change.

Kapuskasing, ON - Forestry Project

A land-based carbon sequestration project designed to mitigate climate change, create employment opportunities for community and first nation residents, and develop forest ecosystems that will enhance adaptability of the local community and ecosystems to climate change. This project represents the first in Canada to be validated and verified under the CCBA standard.

Niagara, ON - Landfill Gas to Energy Project

The Landfill Gas to Energy Project is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party verified under ISO-14064-2 by ICF International. This project collects, captures and recovers landfill gas originating at Niagara, Ontario’s East Quarry Landfill, and processes it into a useable fuel source for distribution via pipeline to a nearby recycled paper mill. Previously, a significant amount of landfill gas was released into the atmosphere where greenhouse gases contribute to the negative effects of climate change. more

Toronto, ON - Organics Biodigestion Project

The City of Toronto Municipal Organics Biodigestion Project is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party verified under ISO-14064-2 by Carbon Quantum Inc. This project diverts municipal organic waste from traditional landfill, thereby avoiding methane emissions to the atmosphere in favor of anaerobic decomposition with methane collection and destruction. more

Cowley, AB - Wind Farm Project

Carbonzero has funded renewable energy development in Southern Alberta.
