Carbonzero Founder Howie Chong to present at major national youth environmental conference

October 19th 2009

Howie Chong, President and Founder of Carbonzero, will be leading discussions on the role of carbon markets as a tool for mitigating carbon at a major Canadian youth environmental conference at the University of Ottawa this weekend.

Power Shift Canada is the largest national summit of youth with over 1000 participants from every province and territory in Canada. Chong will lead workshops on carbon credits, how they're produced and traded, and the controversies surrounding them.

"I've always felt that it's important that the environmental leaders of tomorrow to be fully educated on the functioning and the issues surrounding the carbon market," said Chong, who himself has previously worked with youth-based environmental organizations. "The youth of today are the ones who inherit the Earth, and its important that they understand the nuances of the carbon market so that they will have a greater impact on how these markets will evolve."

Chong will be running two workshops over the weekend as well as sit on a panel discussion on green jobs.

The conference will run between October 23-26. Details can be found at www.powershiftcanada.org
